OUR FOUNDER
Sad Girl Summer was founded by Bailey, a queer, creative, veteran, mother, and aspiring art therapist who believes that healing and sustainability both start with community.
After years of navigating spaces that felt too rigid, too exclusive, or too disconnected from real people’s lives, Bailey set out to build the kind of environment her thirteen-year-old self needed: soft, expressive, welcoming, and full of possibility.
Bailey remembers the beautiful solar punk world that the 90’s promised her, and she is ready to be part of that promise.
OUR TAKE
Sad Girl Summer is a brand and community that believes in the power of collective action to drive change.
We advocate for circular fashion and climate action in our home state of Maryland, and beyond! We prioritize circular fashion, environmental advocacy, community care, and empowerment.
How so?
♥︎ CIRCULAR FASHION:
We keep clothes in use through clothing swaps, repairs, upcycling, and community sharing. Environmental Advocacy - We advocate for better textile waste management and EPR policies in Maryland, and push for sustainable textile practices.
♥︎ COMMUNITY CARE:
We design and host events that make people feel seen, supported, and connected.
♥︎ CREATIVE EMPOWERMENT:
We encourage self-expression, experimentation, play, and showing up exactly as you are.
Our work blends heart and impact. Sad Girl Summer believes that fun fashion should be accessible to everyone and gentle on the environment. We believe that changing the world and taking care of our planet can be rooted in joy and celebration, rather than guilt.
